More Baskets To Be Made With More East Central Coyote Basketball Programs This Winter!!

Our Shooting Hoops basketball squads from the fall at Cunningham are back again this winter in their popular Wednesday and Thursday after-school timeslots but…. with some new faces!! Our winter session that began the week of February 4th has NOW included a Grade 2-3 category, with our Grade 4s’ playing with our youngest aspiring athletes on Wednesdays’ while our Grade 5s’ have made a line change to Thursdays’ to play with the 6/7 students.   Both of these sessions that will break the week of Spring Break, March 17th – 21st will wrap up the week of March 31st with classes to conclude on April 2nd and April 3rd. 

While these changes have expanded the participation in our Shooting Hoops programs, they will in no way affect the interlocking basketball matches that are applicable to the Grade 4/5 and Grade 6/7 pairings ONLY on Saturdays’ with their first play date scheduled for Saturday, February 16th at Ray-Cam Community Centre (920 East Hastings Street). We ask that parents continually make reference to this website for any updates that pertain to the scheduling of these Saturday matches. 
 
Antonina Ferguson, a MoreSports Yell leadership student from Van Technical Secondary returns in the role of head coach for these basketball sessions with an additional Tuesday after-school class for Grades 2-4 ONLY currently being tested at another Gladstone Family of Schools/East Central hub site, Selkirk Annex Elementary from 3:30 - 4:30p.m.
 
It is with great excitement that we embark on the expansion of our Shooting Hoops program within our Gladstone Family of Schools/East Central Hub schools and look forward to future sites being added in Spring 2008 as well as next school calendar year 2008/2009. Stay tuned for updates on these future developments!!
