What's New at MoresportsTennyson Wong Update
Tennyson Wong, the former YELL Community Youth Worker, has continued down the career path he is so passionate about; now working as a Youth Outreach Worker for the District of West Vancouver. Tennyson took his new post in West Vancouver in hopes of learning and progressing as a youth worker after getting his start working with kids from At-Risk Backgrounds with MoreSports.
Tennyson approached his new position in West Vancouver thinking he would see a dramatic change due to the differences in income level from East to West Van. What he found was that despite the immense increases in family income, the At –Risk youth are still in need of a great deal of help. The drug and alcohol problems, addiction, substance abuse, neglect, and behavioural problems all still exist even in an area as affluent as West Vancouver. In some ways Tennyson has found the challenges to be even greater because these issues are kept hidden so well behind the scenes.
“I definitely love my work however. At the end of the day where else can you feel like you've really made a difference to so many people directly from your actions?”
After 7 years of work in Vancouver’s East side with YELL and MoreSports, Tennyson admitted that it was not easy for him to leave the area he has grown so fond of.
“Hopefully one day I'll return to the Vancouver East Side in the same capacity, only better.”
MoreSports wishes Tennyson the best of luck with all his future endeavours. |
